The RI Parks & Recreation Departments "Day Trippers" School Break Program will be held during the Rock Island/Milan School District's spring intercession. The program will be held at Horace Mann School's Gymnasium. 3530 38th Avenue, Rock Island.

Day Trippers is a supervised recreational program designed to give your child an opportunity to socialize, plan and learn with other children. The children will have structured and unstructured playtime. Guest speakers, enrichment activities and field trips will be scheduled throughout the program.

Lunches are not provided. Ages 5 through 12 only.

Rise & Shine (7am-8am) $1.00 per day
Day Trippers (8am-4pm) $19.00 per day

Parents take a night off and leave the kids with us. We will have a fun time including crafts, pizza, swimming and a movie.

Ages 5-12.
Cost = $10.00

Neighborhood  : Greenbush Annual Easter Egg Hunt

April 3—Children 12 and under are invited to our Easter Egg Hunt, rain or shine. (We’ll have the Easter Egg Hunt inside if need be.) The fun starts at 10am on the lawn of the Rock Island Township Hall. Please bring a bag or basket for your goodies. We will be outside, so dress accordingly. Refreshments will be provided for hunters and their supervising adults.

Special Egg Hunt for children 6 and under.

Schools : Student Lunches at Church of Peace during Spring Break

Church of Peace, 1114 12th Street, will be serving lunch from noon to 12:30pm during the Spring Intercession at Rock Island Schools, March 15 through March 29. This is in coordination with the State of Illinois Nutrition Program, which is sponsored by the USDA.

Come to the red double doors with the gold mailbox that faces 12th Street, and doors will be open during this half hour period. Different menus will be served each day.

City : Targeted Rehabilitation Loan Program Accepting Applications

The City of Rock Island Planning and Redevelopment Division will accept preliminary applications for the Targeted Rehabilitation Loan Program beginning at 8am on Monday, April 12 on a first come, first served basis. This program is available to qualified owner-occupied and/or investor-owned properties throughout the City to make specific property repairs. Forms may be picked up beginning in March in the Planning and Redevelopment Division offices on the second floor of City Hall from 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.

Note the completed forms will not be accepted prior to April 12.

The maximum loan amount is $5,000. The amount is to be repaid (at 3% interest over a five-year term) may range from 50% to 100% of the project amount depending upon the household size and income level. Continued from 2009 is a 0% deferred loan where very low to low income households may qualify for a five-year forgivable loan and no payments are required. New for 2010 is a limit of one improvement per property.
