Friends of the Library Books Sale
The NEXT Friends of the Rock Island Public LibraryBig Book Sale of 2010 is Thursday, July 1 at the 30/31 Branch Library from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The bimonthly sales offer even bigger bargains than usual on used books, magazines and more in the Friends Book Sale Room at the Branch. Proceeds benefit the Rock Island Library.
Remember that you don't have to wait for the BIG sales to get bargains. The bookstore is always open during regular branch hours - Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. At .50 cents and less per book, the bargains are still pretty great
More BIG sales are offered Sept. 2., Nov. 4, 2010 and January 6, 2011. Donations of gently used books, magazines and more are welcomed at the 30/31 Branch, in the book sale room. Volunteers are also welcomed

Free Independent Films
The Rock Island Public Library, 401 19th Street, Rock Island, shows free independent films on the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. All showings are free and open to the public.
Free movie, popcorn and soda with discussion after.
